Dates for next recruitment sessions

ECC have announced recruitment session dates for September 2010.

Recruitment seminars will be held in Sydney on Saturday 11th September and Sunday 12th September 2010, and Melbourne on Tuesday 14th September and Wednesday 15th September 2010. Successful applicants will be placed in a teaching pool to start placements in Japan from January 2011. Most placements start in March/April as this is the start of the Japanese school calendar.

ECC has an enviable reputation for high quality, professional teaching staff. The recruitment process is rigorous and only the very best applicants will be successful in securing work. Attendance at an official ECC recruitment sesssion is mandatory.

ECC recruitment sessions have 4 key parts

  1. Clear, honest and detailled information about the company, the role, and the living arrangements in Japan. ECC will provide a representative from the Japanese recruitment office to speak to all potential applicants, and answer questions about teaching and living in Japan with ECC.
  2. A comprehensive English Grammar Test is set and applicants must score at least 70%. This is a mandatory requirement and ensures that all ECC teachers have a high level understanding of formal language instruction and grammatical terms. Applicants are enouraged to study in preparation for this test. The test takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
  3. Participants who obtain a 70% minimum score on the test are invited to continue to the next stage of selection. This involves a role play requiring participants to demonstrate teaching skills, particularly in relation to young children. ECC requires all teachers to be capable of teaching all clients, including young children. Participants will be rated on their ability to engage, enthuse, connect with and enjoy teaching young children in a role play setting.
  4. Finally an interview is conducted to assess each applicants suitability for work in Japan.

Applicants should come prepared to participate in each aspect of the selection seminar. Please note that ECC expects teachers to dress in business attire, and applicants should take care to present themselves appropriately at the recruitment session.
